bad starting poor running at low revs

I have been having problem with my xtz 660 3yf. It is very hard to kickoff, if I give the tank a expert milk shake and total asphyxiate it fires upward and runs for just iii seconds and then dies. If wait for 10 seconds and striking the starter aforementioned affair happens, if I dont wait and striking the starter it dosent fire at all. Repeating this process and eventually she starts but often dorsum fires and stops again. Alternatively I accept adult a more reliable starting method. Beginning milkshake the tank then remove the seat, cover the air intake with a rag, full choke and hit the starter usually starts first get, run for a couple minutes and then remove the rag and nosotros are off.
In one case started information technology idles well goes well above 3000 rpm, only beneath 3000 rpm it kangeroos every bit though it were running out of fuel and backfires on the over run,and does non run likewise smoothly at a abiding speed but accelerates well up to xc mph ( would probably get higher 90 was plenty for a test).
So far I have checked the ignition timing with a strobe low-cal I believe there is just one mark at idle speed that was okay. I accept cleaned out the carbs many times using two whole tins of carb cleaner and run one mm drill through the supply pigsty to cold start. I have set the float level and feel its pretty shut. I have changed the air filter, spark plug and HT lead.
I cannot find any vacuum leaks or exhaust leaks .
So there it is whatsoever ideas welcome as I volition one day achieve the final solution.

I doubtable a restriction in the airplane pilot jet arrangement, at whatsoever constant speed below 60mph it'due south normally the simply part of the fuel arrangement being used. The jet itself can become a hard varnish like coating that restricts fuel flow.

I know lads who've had to soak jets in cleaner, and so push a plastic brissle through to remove the varnish, cleaner & a compressor just weren't plenty.

EDIT: Simply reallised I should take got our lass an ultrasonic jewellery cleaner for chrimbo :headslap: that would've come in handy slywink:

Hold with Rick about the pilot jet, it supplies the idle circuit with fuel if it is blocked the motor will still run but is hard to kickoff and back fires on decell. Information technology lives downwardly a little pigsty and you need a small flat screw commuter to remove, I used an oxy tip cleaner to poke downwards mine equally it was totally blocked, also accident out passages when the jet is out.Fabricated a huge difference once cleaned. If y'all don't know where the pilot jet is enquire and I'm sure someone volition post a pic.

Thanks for the info, I have had the pilot jet out at least 5 times already, the first time its was blocked residue from stale fuel and I cleared it with a very sparse steel wire, I know wrong thing to use. I cannot see anything inside the jet, but it does not mean there is none at that place. Is there supposed to be an o ring behind this jet.

No "o" ring on the airplane pilot jet but I remember there is on the mixture screw, same circuit.

Accept y'all tried just turning the mixture spiral out a bit more than, 2.v turns out is standard.

Normally I would adjust the mixture screw as a matter of class to go optimum idle but I cannot reach it in situ with any screw drive I have, I'll perchance adjust it a little next time I accept the carbs off, which seems pretty excessive simply to turn a screw half a plough.

I just use one of these

from a bit set, an old central filed down does the aforementioned job.
I tin can't imagine how I'd feel having to take the carb off for every piffling adjustment :rage: :banghead: :rage:

I take one, been using it for a scrap at present,I need to try it with the proper solution which I think contains ammonia, rather than but water with a chip of detergent in it.think I got it from machine mart.
