"Here It Goes Again" is a vocal by American rock band OK Go, the 5th single released from their second studio album, Oh No (2005). Information technology was the band's only single to nautical chart on the The states Billboard Hot 100 until "I Won't Permit You Down" in November 2014 and peaked at number 36 on the Great britain Singles Nautical chart, giving the ring their second UK top-twoscore hit. The music video, featuring the band dancing on treadmills, became a staple on YouTube, at once being ane of their most watched videos with over 53 million views.

The unmarried's B-side, "The Lovecats", is a cover of the vocal by the Cure and was previously included on the band'southward Do What You Desire EP and the single "A Meg Ways". An alternate version was nicknamed "Great britain Surf".

Composition and recording [edit]

Written by Damian Kulash Jr., the 3-minute "Hither It Goes Again" is set in common fourth dimension at a "Moderately fast rock" tempo of 144 beats per minute. It is composed in the key of C major, with the vocal range spanning from Civ to A4.[1] Kulash also sang and played the guitar in the original mix, which was produced by Tore Johansson with co-product washed by Eric Drew Feldman, Howard Willing and Ken Sluiter. Andy Duncan was another guitarist on the track. Other instruments on the recording include drums performed past Dan Konopka and bass past Tim Nordwind. David Carlsson and Petter Lindgård were the song's engineers, with Jens Lindgård existence the engineering science assistant. Recorded at Gula Studion in Malmö, Sweden, it was mixed at The Village Recorder in Los Angeles by Dave Sardy, and finally mastered by Robert Vosgien at Capitol Mastering, too in Los Angeles.[2]

Commercial functioning [edit]

On the American Billboard Hot 100 chart, effect dated September xvi, 2006, "Hither Information technology Goes Again" debuted at number 87,[iii] and by the next week it rose to its height into the top 40 at 38.[iv] The track lasted a total of twenty weeks.[5] Additionally, it reached into the acme 40 onto the Pop 100 at number 34,[6] as well equally number 17 on the Developed Tiptop 40[7] and Alternative Songs charts.[eight] "Here It Goes Again" was too a Top twoscore hit in other countries. On the UK Singles Chart, it debuted at number 36,[ix] while on the Official New Zealand Music Chart its peak position was 28.[x] In Australia, the song began at number 67 on the ARIA top 100 singles chart, and rose to 63 the adjacent week and also topped the Hitseekers nautical chart, which surveys tracks by bands that have not reached into the top 50 of the main chart.[11]

The music video of the song is an elaborate performance of the band dancing on eight treadmills, arranged in two rows of four and in alternating opposite directions, in a single continuous take. Choreographed and co-directed by the band and lead singer Damian Kulash'southward sister Trish Sie, information technology took a total of seventeen attempts to complete the video.[12] Equally in the band'south video for "A Million Ways", Tim Nordwind lip-syncs the pb vocals instead of Damian Kulash, following the format from the dance choreographed for the vocal "C-C-C-Cinnamon Lips", which Tim sings. The video debuted on YouTube on July 31, 2006, and has been viewed over 53 1000000 times. It premiered on VH1'due south Top xx Countdown that same 24-hour interval. OK Go performed the dance routine alive at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards.

The music video won the 2007 Grammy Honour for All-time Short Form Music Video and the 2006 YouTube awards for Almost Creative Video.

UK Surf Mix [edit]

During the summer of 2006, the ring recorded a slower version of "Here It Goes Once again" "in their attic".[fifteen] This version, dubbed "U.k. Surf" or the "UK Surf Mix", was released on iTunes in the UK the same solar day as the single. After being featured in the January 2007 Grey's Anatomy episode "Not bad Expectations", it was released in the U.s. through iTunes on February i, 2007, equally a digital download.

According to MTV Games's Paul McGooyer, the video game Stone Band helped to spur further interest in the band.[24] The E3 2016 trailer for Lego Dimensions features the song.[25] Parodies of the video have appeared on The Simpsons, The Adequately OddParents, Foster's Habitation for Imaginary Friends, and Kuu Kuu Harajuku (created by Gwen Stefani).[26]
